Innovative Project
Jockey Club 'BaMa Chill Club' Perinatal Support Project
Project Brief

With the support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong has been granted HK$16.69 million to launch Jockey Club ‘BaMa Chill Club’ Perinatal Support Project. The 3.5-year project is designed with a deep understanding of the unique needs of perinatal mothers, focusing on mental wellness and reducing postnatal depression. The proposed project aims to proactively identify depression in mothers and fathers during the perinatal period and provide early intervention through a stepped-care approach to enhance the mental well-being. The project is not only targeting on mothers, but also involving fathers, parents-in-laws and other carers who have played an invaluable role to manage their own worries about the mothers and provide main support to the mothers at the same time. The project also emphasizes capacity building of nurses, social workers and the general public on the needs of perinatal mothers and fathers via talks, e-learning materials, symposium and various activities.
