Highlights of the 13th Hong Kong Badminton Rehabilitation Cup

The 13th Hong Kong Badminton Rehabilitation Cup 2024 was jointly organized by Kwong Fuk Hostel and Tung Wah College, co-hosted by Choi Wan Hostel. This year’s tournament marked the second time it was held after the pandemic, with support from 7 MI service organizations and 22 units. Over 150 participants took part, and the two-day competition saw more than 200 player entries across 50 intense matches.

Tung Wah College provided strong support for the tournament, offering the Ma Kam Chan Memorial Building Hall as the venue for the event. Additionally, the event received assistance from the TWC Facilities Management Office, which provided classrooms and a restaurant for participants to rest and watch live broadcasts of the games.

The theme of the event was “Bringing Together, Promoting Health.” Through badminton as a medium, we aimed to cultivate exercise habits among participants and enhance mental wellness. The event fostered friendly connections among diverse groups, breaking down barriers between rehabilitation participants, guests, and volunteers. It also helped to promote understanding of rehabilitation participants within the community.

The distinguished guests of opening ceremony included (from the left): Mr. Ching Chi-kong, Director of MHAHK, Dr. Tam Ka-lok, Convenor of the Half-Way House Sub-committee of MHAHK, Prof. Sally Chan, President of Tung Wah College, and Mr. Stephen Wong, Deputy Director of MHAHK.
