The Volunteer Drama Club successfully completed the premiere performance of "Listening" on March 24th, attracting close to 200 members of the public to attend and appreciate the play. The preparation for this public performance took a total of 6 months, from script writing to backstage preparation, and then to the on-stage performance. Every single detail was handled by the volunteers themselves. We are also grateful for the guidance of our mentor, Mr. Wong Yat-hei, which enabled the entire creative process to be completed smoothly and enjoyably.
The Volunteer Drama Club has always been dedicated to promoting messages about mental health through drama. Caring for the people around us is an indispensable element in this endeavor. Through this performance, we hope to highlight the importance of communication, and point out some proper and improper techniques, reminding us to listen attentively and speak with care.
After the performance, many audience members participated in the post-show discussion, expressing that the content of the play has prompted them to reflect, and the communication techniques mentioned have helped them apply these in their daily lives. The Volunteer Drama Club hopes to continue bringing more creative works to the public, using drama to raise awareness about mental health.
